I’ve written about focus many times here and I feel it is most necessary when painting. Unfortunately for today’s session I could only achieve an unfocused block-in.
Usually I have a transition period between work and artwork that helps get my head in order. But, work has been a bit crazy lately so today I ended having to go straight from work into art. Plus I had to keep an eye on things happening at work while painting. It all adds up to a severe lack of focus and a bunch of random brush strokes.
I’m not too worried though, I will establish my focus again today and work on getting a small area of the painting right. I’ve found that focus on a small portion always calms my mind and inevitably leads to work well done.
