Superman: Christopher Reeve

I realized just how much I really liked the original superman movie today and what an awesome actor and person Christopher Reeve was.

Today I’m struggling with time and drawing as I’m try my hardest to bring back some confidence in my charcoal drawing while infusing some character into them. What to get the subtle emotions on Clark Kent’s face in this scene. It’s right when he makes a subtle but amazing change from Clark to superman by simply taking off his glasses and assuming a straight superman posture. There was such power in this small movement.

I’m going to do as many drawings as it takes to get it right.

What went well?

I’m working on limited time today.

What didn’t go so well?

Working on my authenticity.

What did I learn?

I need to do this portrait a lot of times to get my confidence back and I need to analyze what is going wrong with them and correct them to get better. Deliberate practice for the win!!!
