Session 611, Work 552

If I had to pick a favorite color, and for an artist this is difficult, it would be orange. I’m not sure why I like orange, but there it is. Now, I will say that not any orange will do. Like traffic cones, this is the most ugly orange ever, but that’s their purpose.

This painting turned out much better than the night before. I’m not sure if it’s just because of the bright orange on black or maybe the shapes are a bit easier to draw. I didn’t struggle with much here I could see the values well, the shapes, and the color wasn’t hard to reach. Even in the super intense places, like where the light passes through the pulp of the orange, which I have to admit is one of my favorite things to paint about an orange.

I think my next painting will be focusing light passing through an object. I just have to raid my cupboards for a good subject.
