Tonight in painting class we had a wonderful discussion with all the artist about their work they completed over the few months that the class was going on. Luckily I got there a bit early and was able to start a new painting of a subject in the studio that I painted before. But, I had to continue the painting at home from photos that I took while at the studio.
I painted this hanging canvas a couple weeks ago and ever since then I have walked by the painting and really liked it, but I’m not sure why. So I figured I would paint it again to try and figure that out. The more I work on it the more I want to paint this scene larger. What I’m trying to do with this small study is figure out the best composition, the best values and the necessity of color. Once I have all this figured out with a few studies I think then I will move into a much larger painting.
