Session #416, Work #396

Figure drawing tonight went well. I decided to stand because I have been sitting at work all day and its nice to force myself to walk away from my painting and drawings often.

I spent most of the time looking tonight. I was trying to really focus on the lines I was drawing and having them describe the figure as elegantly as possible. Yes, I was definitely influenced by the Isamu Naguchi show at the Frye museum.

The painting went well and I felt that I was doing well, although when I viewed the painting again several days later I didn’t like the painting of the figure near as much. As you can see in the painting the focus in all on the figure, I didn’t really care or have enough time to focus on the background that much. I figured that I can draw and paint interiors all the time, but I only get a chance to paint from a figure once a week.
