Pattie was already in bed tonight so I had her pick a number between 0 and 360, she picked 90. So I used my compass in the living room and pointed it toward 90 degrees and this is the scene I came up with.
Lately I have bee forcing myself to paint thicker. But that didn’t seem correct for most of this painting. The textures were all smooth and painting thinly seem to convey that much better. Except for the lamp, I painted that thick and it matched the textures well. I even left a lot of the canvas unpainted with only the reductive start showing. I didn’t make a particular decision to focus on only that which I felt was important, but the painting turned out that way and only afterwards did I remember how important the concept really is.
