Session #359, Work #350

I’m having fun doing self portraits now. It’s much easier than hiring a model, but at some point I hope to have a model. Actually, the main reason why I started doing the portraits was to practice for a possible upcoming portrait. I don’t want to say too much about it as I fear I may jinx it.

So portraits are very hard, but it looks like I just need a bunch of practice. I felt like I have improved much over these three paintings and I plan to continue with self portraits for a while. Tonight I painted on a very cheap canvas panel with Gesso from the manufacturer and it was a whole hell of a lot better than the ones I added Gesso to myself. So right after this post I will be throwing the rest of that Gesso bottle into the garbage, or donating it. Actually, I will donate it, my wife would be mad if I just threw it away.
