This was a fun painting. There was so much randomness in the shapes, values and colors that I could do nothing but look hard and try to see everything. I even like how the painting turned out to be almost abstract. After doing this one I have an urge to paint flowers for a while.
One thing I have been finding very difficult to do lately is putting the paint on the canvas as thick as possible. I have had to push myself to fill the brushes as much as possible or even more than I would think necessary before applying to the canvas. I have also been trying to mix the paint a bit less so that when applied the multiple colors in the stroke would be mixed with the eye. But, I still end up with a painting where the canvas texture dominates.
