I had to really force myself to finish the painting of the leaf. I’m not exactly sure why, but at some point during this painting I was loosing interest.
I quickly finished up this painting. I wasn’t having fun with it anymore and it seemed to be falling apart the more I worked on it. So, my focus was longevity today, at least I accomplished that.
The leaf really turned out to be a tough subject. Because I have so much trouble generalizing shapes with lots of detail while making it look like the subject I fall back into just rendering in the highest detail that I can. That becomes tedious, and kill the life in the painting. Needless to say I’m not really happy with the end product here, but I learned and that is what matters most.

Drawing
How can I improve the drawing
The drawing throughout this entire painting was a struggle. At the end, its not near as close as I would like, but I lacked the longevity to continue to re-work the drawing.
Value
How can I improve the values?
There are so many subtle variations in value here, and the intensity of the color was really messing with my ability to tell the difference between them.
