Researching Tyrannosaurus Images

I’m in between Fandom Fitness drawings currently so I spent a lot of my time today researching Tyrannosaurus images for a Jurassic Park drawing.

I haven’t decided on a photo yet but I’m wanting this drawing to be action oriented showing the fierceness of the Tyrannosaurus.

Owen (CHRIS PRATT) meets the vicious T. rex in “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire (BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Welcome to “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.”

Warm-up and DrawABox exercises

The normal 15 minute warm-up in graphite.

The challenges continue with the 250 box challenge. Wow! I had lots of issues with these boxes today even though I was taking my time. I only ended up with one box that was done really well. The top left box I abandoned after the front set of lines because I knew I drew it with too much distortion.

Well, five more pages left until I can claim that I completed the challenge. I’ve learned a ton about perspective doing this and I can’t wait to move on to the next draw a box exercise. exercise

Modeled Drawing in Watercolor

The modeled drawing in watercolor from The Natural Way to Draw has always caused me trouble because I’m trying to work with a medium I don’t know how to use well. Plus I’m trying to describe the form and get the proportions correct. My art days are full of challenges, I can’t help but grow by leaps and bounds if I continue to work outside my comfort zone.

Daily Composition and Sketch

I’m still working from Rendering in Pen and Ink by looking at the images and copying what I see. I haven’t even started reading the book but just copying is teaching me lot.

Today I was copying from a drawing by Joseph Clement Coll, he is so amazing I want to get a book on his work but they are super expensive.

What I leaned from trying to copy the drawing of this guys is that an accurate and well made pencil drawing before ink is completely necessary and determines the outcome of the ink 100%.

What went well, what was awesome! Celebrate It!

A relaxing day of art and researching Tyrannosaurus images for the next Fandom Fitness drawing.

What needs work? What did you learn?

On these days when I’m between performances I need to keep focused just as much as when I have a Fandom Fitness drawing to work on.

How am I going to Optimize moving forward?

For the future I may plan a performance that I can work on once in a while between drawings.
