I normally stay away from using black but today I made an exception.
The models boxers needed to be really dark. In fact they are the darkest thing in the photo. Looking at the photo from todays work the boxers seem like a black void in the middle of the painting. There are some lighter values on them in places but it is hard to tell.
I try to look at your art as critically as you would read my writing (which is probably why I don’t let you read much of my stuff…) but most of the tie I have a difficult time being critical.
However, today I feel the black color of the boxers is a little unnatural. Maybe when it’s finished I’ll think different, but it’s interesting how you have opened my eyes to the details and to voice that opinion or view as honestly as possible.
