Quick Self Portrait

Tonight my time was limited, I’m constantly amazed at how often this happens, so I spent an hour doing a self portrait. It’s been a while since I’ve done one and I definitely need more time to create one that I’m happy with.

Today┬áI met with Cary Jurriaans, a wonderful artist that organizes the open studio session on Saturday and she is going to provide me with a great opportunity to teach beginning figure drawing during the Saturday sessions. I’m very excited about it, I’ve never taught before but I’ve learned from a lot of teachers so I have some ideas of how I want to proceed. Honestly I’m a bit nervous but I think I need to get out of my comfort zone and do this, not only can I help some other artists but I also will learn from them.

So, if your an artist on or near Whidbey island and you want to draw from the figure join the Meetup.com group and come by.

Another thing, Cary does an amazing job setting up some incredible workshops with top artists around the country. Have a look at the Whidbey island Fine Art Studio for more information.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."

  1. I don’t know…either you’re getting better looking, or you’re getting better at your self-portraits…
