Portrait: Moving Forward

I’m moving forward on this painting now, it is taking much longer than I expected but I’m having fun just working on it and letting it take shape.

For most of the painting I’ve been using some synthetic soft hair brushes but today I pulled out the trusty hog hair bristle and started building up the paint more thickly. I may make a point to using certain brushes in different areas of the figure and portrait. Such as the soft hair brushes for the shadow areas to keep the paint thin and transparent. Then use the bristle brushes for the lighter areas to keep the paint thick and opaque.
