After lots of challenges, lots of learning and more time than I would have expected my Pokemon Drawing is Finished
The drawing ended up with much more smoothed over texture than I wanted but I had to come to grips with the fact that I don’t know that much about crosshatching techniques. I’m trying to rectify that with my daily compositions and the Rendering in Pen and Ink book.

Warm-up and DrawABox exercises
The normal 15 minute warm-up in graphite.

The challenges continue with the 250 box challenge. This was a good day for drawing boxes. Again I do well when I really take my time and plan each line, giving it the consideration it needs.

One Minute Gestures
I wasn’t able to get deep into the zone with these gestures as I did last time but I’m happy with them anyways.
Daily Composition and Sketch
I’m very motivated to go through Rendering in Pen and Ink from cover to cover and do all the exercises and write an Artist Perspective. But for the moment I have other commitments that I really would like to finish before moving on.

I repeated the textures outlined in the book (above) to try and learn all the possible ways to create tones with just lines. There are several more pages of texture examples like these in the book.

What went well, what was awesome! Celebrate It!
The last day of the month and the Pokemon drawing is finished plus I may have set a new record for art time in a month. WOOT!!
What needs work? What did you learn?
The next Fandom Fitness drawing is not going to be so delicate. My back is not feeling well because I’ve been sitting too much during art, I need to stand more.
How am I going to Optimize moving forward?
We’ve planned the next Fandom Fitness drawing to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex to represent the movie Jurassic Park. This will get me out of my chair and standing.
This drawing is really incredible. So detailed. Exact.
Looking forward to the Jurassic Park drawing, it’s something you haven’t really done much of before- animal “portrait” basically.
Your right I haven’t done much animal portraits. Maybe this could lead to a new career! 🙂
