Pattie: The Texture of Socks

Socks have an interesting fuzzy texture to them and it takes a scumbling, dabbing stroke to get them right, a normal brush stroke will not work.

I think a lot about texture when I work and I try to imitate it whenever I can. I feel it is one of the best ways to separate objects from each other. In fact, texture may be part of the fundamentals of painting, along side edges and value.
