Pattie: Home Again

We had a super long trip last night and didn’t get home till 2am so I’m painting a bit late in the day on Pattie’s portrait after getting some needed sleep.

I decided to start work on the book shelf horizontal and vertical fronts taking special care to keep the lines somewhat straight and not too sharp. The best way I’ve found to keep these edges soft is to paint a darker color along the edge and blend it slightly. Also I really like the subtle transition in value on each of the vertical or horizontal lines.
