I feel that I’ve achieved what I can with the acrylic and the major features of the face.
I’ll continue with acrylic for a bit and finish off the the rest of the head, but I’m thinking that I will be able to start with oil within the next few sessions. With oil, I plan to subdue most of the high chroma colors from the acrylic while keeping the paint very transparent and allowing those bright colors to show through the oil. Also with oil I plan to refine the face even further. I feel that I can breathe some life into this portrait with oil, much more than I can with acrylic.
