I’ve worked on this painting now for 100 sessions. Most of the session have been an hour or shorter but this is still the longest I’ve ever worked on a painting.
I’m not sure if it is a good thing or a bad thing. I like that I’m so committed to the painting but I also feel that I’m getting too detailed. I hope that these paintings I do now are synonymous with Rembrandt’s early work, meaning that he started out detailed and as he progressed through his life he learned to let go of detail yet keep the emotion and the passion.
