Patrick: Trouble With Tendons

I worked more on the leg today and I’m having trouble with the flexed tendons that enter the top of the foot.

This is one of those instances where it looks fine in the image but the painting doesn’t quite capture the form well. I have to work on refining the subtle values and colors that make of this are of the leg. It’s a very prominent part of the painting so I need to get it right.

What went well?

I really like the impression on his skin where he had socks on earlier.

What didn’t go so well?

That tendon at the top of the foot just isn’t working.

What did I learn?

I need to compare the drawing of the foot again on the next session.
