Patrick: Drawing and Form

For almost everything in my life right now if I’m having some kind of difficulty I always check-in on my fundamentals.

I was having some trouble with the subtle drawing of the tendons leading into the foot. So today I focused on the drawing of that area and how the form was being described. After about an hour of work I’m much happier with how the tendons look so I moved onto the foot with some thick impasto, yay!

What went well?

Focus on the fundamentals helped a lot with some specific issues.

What didn’t go so well?

I’m having a lot of trouble spending more than an hour painting and I’m really working my willpower hard to get my daily sketch in.

What did I learn?

If you having trouble with anything, check-in on the fundamentals.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
