THE DAILY ARTIST
Years ago I had started a series called “Elevating the Mundane” that ran for over 30 paintings. I’ve sold most of them and didn’t look at the posts for years.
A few weeks back I happened to look back on those posts and was blown away by the beauty of the photographs I had taken of these simple paper sculptures.
So, with my increase in skill over the years I’ve set out to do the photos justice in oils. But this time I hope to propel them further with color.
I spent lots of time painting today and taking this painting to the next stage.
Another very busy day but I was able to stick to my schedule and get some good art time in.
I had a super busy day today and was unable to spend as much time as I wanted painting.
The second day of glazing and this time I got the layer of color closer to what I want.
The first day of work employing what I’ve learned about glazing is a success!
I finished up all the black and value work on Paper Star today and I figured I try adding the next step to some dry areas.
A wonderful morning of painting and conversation with a fellow creator on the journey to mastery.
Much more work time than art time today and I’m a bit frustrated.
I have a day off work today and a long hike planned so I’m making progress however small on this painting.
Day seven on this painting and I’ve pulled out the smaller brushes.
Sunday early morning painting and I’m wonder how smooth is smooth enough.
This morning as I continue with the Paper Star painting I’m contemplating changing the title of these paintings.
I moved back to the Paper Star and begin refining it’s edges today.
The first strokes of oil on my Paper Star painting and I’m figuring out the hue needed for an ethereal glow.
I started drawing and painting on the third painting that I will be working on in tandem with others.
