THE DAILY ARTIST
Years ago I had started a series called “Elevating the Mundane” that ran for over 30 paintings. I’ve sold most of them and didn’t look at the posts for years.
A few weeks back I happened to look back on those posts and was blown away by the beauty of the photographs I had taken of these simple paper sculptures.
So, with my increase in skill over the years I’ve set out to do the photos justice in oils. But this time I would propel them further with color.
A great day of painting! I was able to spend all kinds of focused time.
Today I moved back to the Paper Flame painting and began glazing in color.
I’ve finished this first stage of my paper flame painting and now put it away to dry.
After work today it’s nice sitting and calmly painting. It’s almost meditative.
I’ve moved back to my Paper Flame painting today as I’m waiting for the Knot painting to dry.
I spent a lot of time working on refining the subtle transitions of value with the paper folds today.
Time has been a scarce commodity these past few days but I still plan my art and execute when I can.
I had a super busy work day today and little time to work on this painting but I got some focused work in.
Because all of the other paintings are still wet I’ve started a fourth painting in tandem.
