Female Figure Painting: Finished
After eleven sessions on this female figure painting from a photograph, I’m finished. I’m very pleased with the finished painting with some reservations on the composition.

Female Figure Painting: Session 10
I feel as though I’m not getting enough focus on time daily on this figure painting. I’m at session 10 now and I’m sure I could have been done with this painting days ago if I could carve out 3 hours a day.

Female Figure Painting: Session 9
The more I work on this figure the more I like it. Even though I’m taking a bunch of sessions to complete it I still have the motivation to keep working on it while staying focused.

Female Figure Painting: Session 8
Every time I come back to my palette the mixed paint is dry. I believe that I have remixed piles of colors for this figure painting every session. At first, I was thinking it was too wasteful, but I decided differently.

Female Figure Painting: Session 7, Top Down
At this point, I’m just working slowly on this figure painting from the top down. Her back is mostly in shadow so I’m working on the subtle nuances of value and color in shadow.

Female Figure Painting: Session 6, Slow Down
It seems that I need to be constantly reminded to slow down. I’ve finally got this figure painting under control and only because I’ve started to relax and work at a very slow pace.

Female Figure Painting: Session 5
An hour more spent on this female figure painting from photo. I decided to quickly fill in the whole figure with some semblance of value and color.

Female Figure Painting: Session 4
We had a wonderful day today in Port Townsend, so my painting session got pushed to later. I only spent a half hour working on this figure painting and mostly floundering at that.

Female Figure Painting: Session 3
Now I’m to a point where I can begin painting this female figure. Unfortunately, I really don’t have a plan for starting a figure painting like this. So, I spent about an hour floundering around with paint and left the easel a bit frustrated.

Female Figure Painting: Session 2
My second session on this female figure painting and I’m still drawing. I want to get the drawing down really well here so I’m taking my time.

New Day, New Figure Painting
I’m not sure if I will return to my previous figure painting. I was attempting something different and I really wasn’t excited about the look of it. Today I started a new painting of a female figure in a style similar to my previous figure paintings on gray.
