Recovery: Finished
As I finish with another long term painting I reflect on what I’ve learned.

This session I worked on the back of the figure. I’m not 100% sure if this is the last that I will adjust the form of the back of the figure.

I focused fully on painting the details of the hand for this session. Hands are so complex they take all my focus.

Today I worked on the forearm, a rather confusing area of the body.

The romantic notion that all art is done when the artist is passionate is false. Frequently passion is generated through the act, we just need to start.

Super busy day today and I barely got anything accomplished on this painting. Just a half an hour of work on it.

I normally stay away from using black but today I made an exception.

Trying to paint a solid looking structure covered in hair is quite interesting.

With this session I’ve taken care of the foot and leg in shadow, working from left to right over the figure.

I’m second guessing myself on this approach after spending two hours blocking in the rest of the figure.

A very short session today with some focus only on shadow areas.

I may be working on this painting for longer than normal.

I started on the foot but will have to redo it in the future.

I chose to go with a much more warm background this time around, normally I would cool it off to separate the figure more.

I’ve finished the drawing with this session and will be starting the background on the next session.

I felt the pose of this figure quite fitting with my current situation.
