An oil painting portrait of a model in a princess costume by chris beaven

Hanah 2

I painted Hanah while she was modeling for the Downtown Art Center portrait painting class in Honolulu. She continued the same pose from last week but before I went into class I had this idea of royalty. I envisioned royalty being depicted on high so the viewer would be looking up at her. So I positioned myself sitting cross legged on the floor far below the Hannah, it was not comfortable, she was on a stage. Also, she wasn’t wearing a costume, so I added a costume out of my imagination and with a little help from Google search on my phone.

I really enjoyed this oil painting and I felt I was expanding my skills into the realm of imagination and it felt good to be sitting on the floor and doing whatever I could to serve the idea for the painting.
