Feet and Hands

feet-and-hands

These are my feet and hands. I’ve always been very vascular in my hands and I wanted to try and paint all of the colors that exist in skin. From greens to bright yellows.

Sessions

Feet and Hands: Session 13

I think I’m done working on this painting. I feel like I could refine it much more but I’m hindered by the darn texture of the paper.

Feet and Hands: Session 12

I’m regretting using the cold pressed watercolor paper for this painting. I think it would be much better if the surface I was painting on was smoother.

Feet and Hands: Session 11

The initial block-in is finished with this painting. I wish that I was progressing on this painting faster but I only have enough motivation for 1 hour a day.

Feet and Hands: Session 10

I spent this entire session trying to achieve a semblance of translucency with the skin, I’m not sure if I was able to do that. I’m not even sure if I learned anything. I will have to try again.

Feet and Hands: Session 9

Again I didn’t have enough motivation today to spend more than an hour working on this painting.

Feet and Hands: Session 8

This first pass of paint is turning out rather flat in some places. Also this painting is taking much too long, I’m going to try and increase my time daily.

Feet and Hands: Session 7

One hour of work on this painting today, again I’m pressed for time but I’m trying to keep focus with what little I can get done daily.

Working slowly I’m starting to really like how the rendering of my hands is coming out.

Feet and Hands: Session 5

We had a busy Thanksgiving day today so I only spent about a half hour, maybe more, on this painting.

I’m finding the quality of my own images to be very helpful during this slow painting process.

I consider today’s session to be successful. I didn’t get much done but what I did accomplish was done well.

Moving slowing and taking my time I refined this drawing as much as possible before I will start in oils next session.

I’m tired of painting from another person’s photographs so I took some myself, and the subject matter is myself, well, at least part of me.
