Open Studio Returns

Back to the open studio this weekend and the group is at a new and very cozy place.

I had a great time at the studio today. The lighting was good and the model was great. Next time I promised Brett that I would challenge myself a bit more and bring nothing but large brushes. I do tend to get way too detailed with these paintings.

What went well?

I think the drawing and the form here was done really well.

What didn’t go so well?

I would like to have been a bit more free with my expression of the paint and get more of the figure done in 3 hours.

What did I learn?

Forcing myself into expressive brushwork by only using large brushes may work for the next open studio session.

My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
