I decided to pause on my Sheldon Cooper drawing and work on a new self portrait drawing for a Proko.com challenge.
The last time I did a self portrait was winter of 2018. I was right out of my transplant surgery in the portrait and I was trying to capture a very personal moment. I wasn’t at my best then physically but now I’m in the best health I’ve every been in my entire life, so this portrait is going to be much different.

Warm-up and DrawABox exercises
The normal 15 minute warm-up in graphite.

The challenges continue with the 250 box challenge. I’m getting much better at these boxes. Slowly but surely.

Modeled Drawing in Watercolor
Back to the modeled drawings from The Natural Way to Draw. I haven’t touched watercolor in a while so it’s nice to pull it out again, especially after getting some supplies to make it easier.

Daily Composition and Daily Sketch
The sketch is of the top shelf of Pattie’s keepsake bookcase and the composition is of Pattie and Jenny hiking near Mt Shuksan. It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been and we only live about an hour away from it. Awesome!

What went well?
Started on a new self portrait that I’m super excited to work on. I love the idea and the start.
What needs work?
Plan my time a bit better.
What did I learn?
Slow down when you’re drawing. If you want it to turn out well, take your time, don’t rush it.
