I’ve started a new painting of a male figure. This reference again is from New Masters Academy.
Half of my 2 hour session today was spent adding gesso to the paper and picking out the figure. I chose this compact pose for two reasons. First, this figure will fit the composition well and at a larger size then any other figure I’ve done. Second, the model Rajiv, is not caucasian and I’m hoping to get some difference in how I mix skin tones, maybe learn something more.

He reminds me of Tarzan. Interesting poses that exaggerate the human muscles and anatomy, I guess. Is there a pose of him sliding down a tree branch, or swinging from a vine?
