I’m happy to say that I’m close to finishing this painting, just a couple more sessions.

As of today I have worked on this painting for 49 separate sessions. I knew it was going to be a long term painting when I started it but I didn’t think it would take this long. The best thing about this painting is that I always had something that I could work on daily without wasting time trying to figure out what to do. This was especially good for those days when I just don’t have the motivation to do much of anything, I could put myself on autopilot and get some painting done.

The problem that I’m running into now is that I feel I have neglected the fundamentals for the past few months and it is showing. I need to get back to drawing daily as my drawing ability is waning.

For this session I worked on a larger gray foreground area that is the open side of a suitcase. Lots of gray and easy value changes.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
