The portrait in this painting is so small that I’m having trouble painting it.
Today was the first session where I’m going over this painting for a second time and refining values, color and drawing. But I’m having a lot of trouble because the face is so small. I’m using the smallest brush I have and that is not even small enough. I keep thinking that maybe I’m getting too detailed and I need to focus on the basic shapes and get the drawing and value correct. I’m not sure exactly, I will figure it out though. Until then I think it will be hard to tell that I made any changes to this painting.
