Similar to how Richard Schmid paints I start with detail in a spot and then begin branching out.
Painting like this is kind a like building a puzzle. I start in one place and begin connecting the pieces while trying to keep each piece I add as accurate as possible.
Even though it looks detailed I will eventually go over all that I just painted at least one more time to refine the values, color and edges.
