Living Room: Beginning with Oil

I’ve realized that I don’t like starting with washes or general block-ins.

I started to block in some shadow shapes with a thinned layer of umber, black and blue. I realized that I would just have to paint over this anyway with more accurate color and value. So why don’t I just go for the best detail I can get at the beginning? Of course I always refine my painting at least twice even if I start with accurate details at the beginning. In the end it all may work out the same but I just choose the process I like most.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
