Life Drawing: Chris

I reminded of why I paint on surfaces primed with acrylic gesso today.

The canvas I’m painting on has sit in my studio for a long time, maybe over a year, and it’s oil primed with an old painting wiped away on it. Through today’s entire session I was struggling to get any paint to stick to the surface, it was much to slick and hard to deal with. I realized that I like a canvas that soaks up the paint a bit and has some tension to it.
