Life Drawing and an Apple

My last few days of art hasn’t been anything spectacular I’m just continuing with a well established habit.

I started a simple gouache painting of an apple today but about 15 minutes into it I suddenly became extremely tired and couldn’t focus. I attribute that to my two days of very unhealthy food I’ve been eating. Today was birthday leftovers of pizza and brownies… Don’t worry I got an hour workout in to try and offset the crazy calories I pulled in. This is just another important reminder that in order to do my art well, or anything well, I have to first begin with a healthy life style.

I’m really enjoying working slowly and accurately here, I’m not getting much of the figure done with the very short poses but what I am putting down is very close to what I’m seeing.

I’m trying out some watercolor paper with an acryla Gouache primer. The primed surfaced turned out to be too dark and I’m not sure if I like it or not. I’ll have to try it again tonight but with a gesso primer or just bare paper and see.

  1. I appreciate that you recognize that a healthy lifestyle complements our life goals and motivations. It’s sometimes hard to understand the correlation, but there is definitely a connection between our health and fitness and our daily habits, such as work, family, and our important projects such as your art, my writing.
But birthday indulgences are okay on occasion as well!
