Another day life drawing in the Hipbone open studio.

I’m still struggling with the best way to describe volume in forms. I need to do a lot of practice with seeing planes of the head and body.

The direction of my lines across the body for shading is most important to also indicate volume. On a simple cylinder I could keep all these lines uniform across the whole cylinder but when dealing with the body I have to figure out the best transitions of the lines to both describe volume, indicate shading and do it so the figure doesn’t look ‘hairy’.
Here are two wonderful examples of indicating volume with line and shading.
I hope we both find communities and opportunities to continue to pursue our passions in our new home.
