Life Drawing

Another life drawing session at Hipbone Studio today. Some of the drawings turned out well.

Sigh… gestures… one day I will focus on these and get them right but for the moment I would rather focus on the longer poses.

I will say that the short gesture poses really prepare me for the rest of the drawing session. These 5 minute poses always go smoother after gestures.

Here I’m trying to channel Bridgman with the minimal amount of line work to try and represent the roundness of forms.

Just the back, I was focusing on the shadow shapes made here, but I think he looks way to muscular than the model was actually.

For the costume pose I just focused on doing a portrait and I’m happy to say that I got very very close to a likeness.

Here I am messing around and painting with charcoal, building up the figure with form rather than line. I used to like this way of drawing but, I don’t think it works so well now.

This drawing came together really well, it’s nice to end the session on a high note.
