Life Drawing

I was in the zone tonight, yes it was a short life drawing session but I was able to pull out some really good drawing in only 30 minutes.

I’m getting to a point on these life drawing sessions that I’m settling into a style of some sorts.

I still can’t get much past the head in 1-2 minutes here. I’ll keep working at it and one day I will be very fast at drawing heads accurately.

I’m beginning to become more and more comfortable with this style of drawing. Maybe “comfortable” is not the right word here. I feel like I’m finding a connecting with myself in how I progress through these drawings. It’s difficult to explain but there it is.

The “style” I’m talking about is to basically go right for the accurate representation of what I’m seeing from the beginning. I try not to draw a line unless it’s where it should be placed, each line is the final line, no preliminary. The drawback to this is that I’m getting further away from gesture. But, honestly, I’m not sure if that is a bad thing as long as I can keep my figures from looking too static.

This is similar to drawing with ink. There is no eraser in ink, so every line is the last line. You have to know where you going, and compare every mark with something previous.
