Focus On Color

For today’s session, I wanted to focus on color. In the previous session I blocked in the figure with colors that were too muddy and close to gray so I wanted to fix that.

Basically, I just kept my color mixes very simple. For most of this session, I used Transparent Earth Orange, White and Cadmium Red. For the darker areas, I added in a little Ultramarine blue and burnt umber.

I didn’t get very far just the top half of the figure but the difference is very noticeable. The colors are more warm and crisp. What I learned most here is that I should keep my mixtures very simple and try hard to get the value correct.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."

  1. Wow, I’m not trained in the art of details that much, but I can tell a big difference between this painting and the one you did the day before. I mean, I know it’s the same painting, I mean I can tell the difference from what you did the day before…looks good
