Figure Start: Big Shapes

Continuing with my focus on starting a figure painting I’m inspired by a Steve Huston video from New Masters Academy where it is all about big shapes.

In the NMA video painting demonstration by Steve Huston, he further confirms my stance that the beginning of the figure painting is the most important. Furthermore, Steve Huston encourages the practice of doing many different figure starts. So, this is what I’m going to be doing for a while I think, a bunch of figure starts. The nice thing about this is that if I like the start enough I will always have the photo reference and I can continue with the painting anytime.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
