Figure In Gouache

I’m trying something a bit different today, I’m painting a figure in gouache rather than oil. I’m not sure how it will turn out but I plan on taking my time with it, maybe working it up similar to how Andrew Wyeth would work his figures.

Not that I could ever come close to the Wyeth mastery but it’s nice to try. Here is a succession of images on the process.

  1. What’s the saying? Bad artists copy, good artists steal. Something like that.
    I don’t mean go out and steal the actual painting, but take that style and make something of your own.
    Maybe it’s a bad metaphor…
