Last night I didn’t spend as much time on art as I would like, just 1 hour of figure drawing. For some reason I was almost falling asleep right at 6pm, so I kept it short.

Tonight I drew from one of the daily life drawing session videos on New Masters Academy. I’m paying for this wonderful service so I need to use it several times a week to get my money worth.

Figure Drawing, warmup
Warmup

My warmup drawing as usual. I haven’t done this as often as I would like, I’ve been enjoying the conversation at my local life drawing that I don’t do it.

Gestures, these are still a weak point in my figure drawing skills.

I decided to do a longer drawing of the pose on the right. Then after about 10 minutes of drawing this one I figured out that there was some camera distortion making the models legs seem much too short. This is probably the biggest issue with drawing from photos. The other is how a camera blacks out most of the value changes in the shadows or in the lights depending on the exposure.

  1. I like how you still work with what you can. And utilizing the tools you have for your growth as an artist. I guess this means I should start reading all the books I have on the subject of writing..?

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
