Fatigue: Sharp Edges

I’m always thinking about edges and trying not to make them too sharp.

Lots of great paintings I see have soft edges all over the painting except for the center of interest but I’m not doing that. I have sharper edges all over my painting, I think this may be due to using photography. I’m always trying to make edges softer but I can never bring myself to fully commit. I will say that I really enjoy a lost edge, especially when it is created by two different colors that have almost the same values, much like the shadow side of this figure painting.

I am an Artist and a programmer currently living in the amazing state of Washington. I have a passion for art, but I'm stubborn as hell with it. My day is complete only when I do some piece of art each day, no matter how small. "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
