Editing the Yoda Drawing
After a nights rest and looking at yesterdays post once again I decided to edit the Yoda drawing a little.
THE DAILY ARTIST
Not much to say about this one. It’s Yoda. I found a really great image of Yoda that I liked and reproduced it as well as I could. I took particular care in the differences of texture.
After a nights rest and looking at yesterdays post once again I decided to edit the Yoda drawing a little.
I may have rushed the bottom half of Yoda’s robe but for now I’m going to call the Yoda drawing finished.
Another busy day today of running errands, work and artwork but I was able to plan my day well and get almost everything in, with a bit of rushing around.
Drawing when done correctly involves the whole body. A delicate gradation is made with the body hunched and focused. But a rough texture is done standing and energetic like conducting a symphony.
My Monday mornings are really nice now with the latest change in my work schedule. I get to start on art first thing in the morning.
After some deep thought I’ve decided to cut out one of my daily exercises for now and make space for what is most important. At some point in the future I will return to my Steve Huston exercises.
I decided to take a relaxing pace with my art session this morning. I still kept my warm-up to 15 minutes but I allowed myself to get lost in the other drawings.
The latter half of my art day today didn’t go as well as I would have liked. But I know that when I’m pushing beyond my comfort zone these days will happen.
For years I’ve ignored graphite and consistently used charcoal. But I really love the delicacy of graphite now especially with this drawing of Yoda.
I was wrong. Charcoal can be used over graphite, it just takes a careful touch and the right softness of charcoal.
I’m changing my materials for the Fandom Fitness drawings and instead of using a combination of charcoal and graphite I’m just using graphite for Yoda.
I’ve started on the next Fandom Fitness drawing and Star Wars fans will hopefully love my drawing of Yoda when it’s finished.
