Drawing when done correctly involves the whole body. A delicate gradation is made with the body hunched and focused. But a rough texture is done standing and energetic like conducting a symphony.
Yoda Drawing
Today I moved my body in many different ways. All of which matched the marks that I wanted to make. I carefully made adjustments on Yoda’s face holding the pencil like I was writing. Then I needed a haphazard line so I stood away from the paper and held the pencil far back from it’s tip. When trying to cover a large portion his robe with value the easel was rocking from the motion.
If you sit when you draw, try standing sometimes and if you stand, try sitting. There is no “The way” of doing anything in art. What you want to communicate will lead the technique when you put your motive first.

Long Modeled Drawing in Ink
The last few modeled drawings from The Natural Way to Draw exercise I didn’t do as directed but for this super long drawing I’m going to try very hard to follow Nicolaides’ instructions.

Daily Composition and Daily Sketch
I’m still getting used to this brush pen. It’s amazing how tiny a line I can get then press a little harder and get a very thick line.
I tried a portrait from memory… needs work. LOL

What went well?
Lots of focus on my art this afternoon and re-discovered that drawing involves the whole body.
What needs work?
I’m spending so much time on the exercises that I’m not making very much time for my web stuff. I’ll have to work on that.
What did I learn?
Keeping my body in the best shape possible will allow me to show up and perform the best I can.
