Drawing Experimentation

After spending so much time on one painting I’m moving back to some drawing for at least a few days. I started off with some drawing experimentation.

Basically I was trying different ways of drawing short poses. They ranged from gestural to very exact. I wanted to confirm something that I’ve been thinking for a while.

There are a ton of ways to draw the figure but there are only a few that actually work with my brain. Meaning, some methods really never give me that accomplished feeling after I’m done. I find it very hard to explain actually. There are several ways of doing gestures or short poses that I actually find mentally uncomfortable. Of course I try these methods all the time because being uncomfortable is sometimes a good indication of really pushing yourself.

I can’t explain exactly why but I really enjoy drawing with the method below. Extreme focus on detail all the way trough, but fast enough to get a lot of the figure. I can go horribly wrong or appear extremely elegant.
