I spent a lot of time working on refining the subtle transitions of value with the paper folds today.
Time has been a scarce commodity these past few days but I still plan my art and execute when I can.
I had a super busy work day today and little time to work on this painting but I got some focused work in.
Because all of the other paintings are still wet I’ve started a fourth painting in tandem.
The first strokes of oil on my Paper Star painting and I’m figuring out the hue needed for an ethereal glow.
I started drawing and painting on the third painting that I will be working on in tandem with others.
I’m having a challenging time today because of issues with sleep last night, but I made good progress.
I’ve started painting on Resurgence today and I’m having fun using a new set of colors I bought.
Wow! Super busy day today but I still got some art in.
The “Knot” painting is not dry. I don’t think it will be dry for a week so I’m starting on “Resurgence”.
This morning I put my first layer of oil paint on the canvas and intentionally kept it as intense as possible.
I changed direction on this painting a bit today by planning to make it more than just a study.
I’m beginning studies for my next big painting.
I ran lots of errands today so I didn’t get a good plan together for painting again so I did a gesture study instead.
I’m going to be painting again. The first painting is going to be in preparation for an idea that I’ve had for months.
I’ve finished my drawing of Westley and Buttercup from the Princess Bride movie. It’s not my best drawing in the Fandom Fitness series, but I…
Working on Westley’s sword arm and hand today after most of my day spent at work.
It’s amazing how just adding in a few sharp lines and darker values will change an area from a blob of unfinished to an object…
It’s interesting how some small changes can bring a drawing closer to finished than hours of larger work.
Letting go this morning with lots of charcoal I filled in most of the lower half of my Princess Bride drawing.
My energy today has been sapped because work started in the morning, my normal art time.
More work on Westley’s face today. I think his portrait will come together much faster.
I think that Buttercup’s face is working well now after some small changes to her eyes and the values of her face.
Struggling with structure and softness within Buttercup’s face.
Adding more charcoal to the paper and trying to keep it smooth for a feminine face.
A shorter session this morning focused on drawing corrections and accuracy.
Today was supposed to be all about getting the drawing refined for the whole drawing but I was seduced by detail.
My second attempt at drawing Westley and Buttercup Princess Bride with hopes that this one will go much better.
I’ve finished the Rosa Parks drawing after working her dress and more form in her head.
You can call this “pick and shovel” work. Lots of filling in with value but no subtlety.
The challenge for Rosa Parks dress is trying to instill form into a very dark area with subtle variations.
The basic values are set for Rosa Parks face which makes the bulk of this drawing done.
Another deeply focused morning while drawing Rosa Parks.
I was able to progress very fast on Rosa Parks this morning.
An easy day of art. An easy day overall!
I wasn’t able to commit a lot of time on the start of my Rosa Parks drawing today but I made progress.
I’m between Fandom Fitness sketches. I just finished Steve Irwin and now I’m researching Rosa Parks.
I’ve finished my Steve Irwin drawing today! I’m really happy with how it turned out.
Today I may have finished the alligators tail.
Another wonderful morning of full and deep focus on drawing.
I’m working further away from the center of interest in this drawing so the modeling has changed.
Taking a recovery day today with my wife and nature.
A little bit of progress every day.
Slowly moving forward like always, my creation process is unrelenting and inexorable.
Tons of energy this morning as I’m having fun with all the texture in Steve Irwin’s crocodile.
Another focused AM art session with Steve Irwin and his crocodile.
A shorter time of drawing this morning so I can start recording my Optimize for Artists class today.
This morning was super productive as I could focus on this drawing for much longer than normal being the weekend.
