I need to do some deep research on Chuck Close and create a bank of wisdom of his life.
The one thing that will make you better at everything. Sleep.
This drawing is related to a post over at CreateQuest and may become a thumbnail soon.
I took my time, focused and measured to create a better portrait.
I picked one of the first images I saw from a bank of images I purchased from Artstation.
I went to shutterstock and drew the first human image I saw.
I love just picking an image from my bank of figure images and just drawing.
With all my web development work I need more creative time.
I was drawing and dancing while listening to fun music!
I tried a different photo and went horizontal but car trouble interrupted my drawing.
A quick sketch for an upcoming CreateQuest video.
You might seen this same drawing appear as a thumbnail image on CreateQuest.net.
Another one of the figures that I was planning on painting in the future.
This is one of the figures that I was planning on painting in the future.
I spent 30 minutes focusing on the head from my latest painting trying to better understand the form.
I’m going to move to drawing for the next few days.
I’m not spending a lot of time daily on painting so the progress on this painting is slow.
Working on the details of the face now and trying as hard as I can to understand the complex colors I see.
The super simple block-in for the whole painting is done. Tomorrow I’ll get back to details.
The best way to figure out a color is to also figure out the colors next to it.
I worked a bit more on the skin color trying to get a base to work from.
First layer on the face is close to finished and I’m moving outward into the background and down the body.
I’ve started painting and I’ve started with detail right away.
For this post and the next few posts I’m going to keep the text very short.
After some serious deliberation on my second morning walk I’ve come to a conclusion.
I spent most of my time today agonizing over subject matter and searching for photos.
After lots of thought I’ve figured out the motive that I want to communicate. Although…
Still fussing with the background.
Back to Vulnerability Four and I’m experimenting with the background today.
I’ve taken a lot of chances in this painting and pushed a lot of boundaries.
I was hoping to finish this painting today but I think it will take a couple more days of work.
I slept better last night and today I entered the flow state.
Sleep has been a challenge lately and my brain wasn’t up to the challenge today.
Much of the same today.
I’m certain now that this is how I want to paint moving forward.
I moved up to the hair of the figure. Working on detail and interest.
More of the same but the images don’t show it.
Stroke after stroke I keep adjusting and re-adjusting the subtle colors of the skin.
I’m back to working on Vulnerability Three and I have a plan to infuse some elegance into the painting.
This layer for Vulnerability Four is done. I’ll let it dry for a few days now.
I’m not sure if I need to write anything about thing painting today.
Instead of painting today I worked on a drawing of Sullivan for a floating memorial.
I’m moving slow on CreateQuest development and slow on this painting.
Another one hour session on this painting and lots more hours on CreateQuest.
Another relaxing day on this painting. I focused on his hair, arm and hand.
I had a wonderfully relaxing painting session today after lots of dev work on CreateQuest.
My in-laws flew back home last night after a wonderful visit for a week.
I spent most of my time today signing other paintings and little time on this painting.
