Daily Art #3049

Neutralizing the first layers of the Rajiv Two painting.

The purpose of this session is to try and take the previous painting and turn all the colors on the canvas into neutrals by glazing their opposite color over them.

I think it worked pretty well so far but I may need to have a second session more focused on the glazing.

So when I was trying to do some glazing over this oil painting I found that using a hog’s hair bristle brush worked much better for keeping the paint thin and to really scrub it over the paint the previous painting.

When I used a softer brush I was covering up way too much of the under painting and I wanted to leave some of that to show through.

The only problem I had during this session was I began to rush close to the end. I wanted to fit too much work into two little time. I do this way too often and next time I need to really take my time through the entire session.

I like the result of today’s session because it looks like I’ve instilled some life into the painting. Rajiv is looking more real in color.
