The painting looks super gray and bland.
Which is exactly what I want because I’m working it up completely in neutral colors. But as soon as I added a little bit of semi saturated colors to his forehead that color stood out like crazy.
I’m going to let this dry then continue to work it up by adding more and more saturated paint layers to it. But I think I may try and keep the most saturated colors for the last most important areas.
I’m enjoying the neutrals so much that I think I may go over all the other in progress figure paintings that I have going now with neutralizing colors then begin working them up again from there.
We’re going to need to figure out a way to use my current medium to really thin out the paint so I can see the lines underneath or get so freaking accurate with the planning of the colors I want to put down and the values that I don’t need the lights once I start painting after the drawing is already accurately established.
