Daily Art #3040

I didn’t get a second session on this painting today but I did get a 2 hour session in the morning.

The 2 hours I worked on it went great! I took my time with the drawing and I’m pretty sure it was very close even though I didn’t check it with the photo. After putting graphite on the panel I went in with some transparent orange and begin defining the shadow areas and values.

What is interesting is that the graphite mixes with the orange and makes this sickly looking green. I have no problem with that because I intend to paint over the whole thing with opaque pant so this stage will not show at the end. I did the same with the previous painting and it worked well.

The only thing that I feel I could improve is with checking my drawing against the photo after the first pass is finished to make sure that it’s all correct. And maybe try some other way of building up the shadows so it doesn’t mix with the graphite.
